Abstract

Purpose— This community engagement program aimed to strengthen farmer-group understanding of local food as a resource for household resilience, expenditure efficiency, business opportunities, and sustainable rural economic growth.

Implementation Method— The program was conducted in November 2025 with 35 farmer-group members through participatory education and interactive discussion, supported by a seven-day local-food menu poster. Learning outcomes were assessed using a 10-item pre-test and post-test.

Results and Discussion— Before the intervention, 22 participants (62.86%) were in the low-knowledge category and only 1 participant (2.86%) was in the very good category. After the intervention, 31 participants (88.57%) reached the very good category, none remained in the low category, and 31 participants improved their scores by at least 20%. The mean post-test score was 8.4 out of 10.

Implications— Contextual education using familiar local commodities can serve as an entry point for farmer-group empowerment. Follow-up activities should combine food-processing assistance, simple business calculations, and market access to translate knowledge gains into practice and economic value.
