Privacy Statement
Advances in Business & Industrial Marketing Research (ABIM) respects the privacy of authors, reviewers, editors, readers, registered users, and other individuals who interact with the journal.
Personal information collected through the journal website is used only for legitimate scholarly publishing, editorial, administrative, technical, communication, research-integrity, and journal-management purposes.
Depending on how an individual interacts with ABIM, the journal may collect information such as name, email address, institutional affiliation, country, academic profile information, ORCID identifier, correspondence details, user-account information, and professional or research interests.
For manuscript submissions, ABIM may also process author information, manuscript files, declarations, review reports, editorial correspondence, revision histories, supplementary materials, and other information required for editorial assessment and scholarly publication.
Personal information may be used for purposes reasonably connected with journal operation, including:
- Managing manuscript submission, editorial screening, peer review, revision, production, and publication
- Communicating with authors, reviewers, editors, and other journal participants
- Maintaining user accounts and editorial records
- Registering and maintaining DOI and bibliographic metadata
- Supporting scholarly indexing, discovery, citation, and metadata-distribution services
- Maintaining journal-platform security, integrity, and continuity
- Supporting reasonable recordkeeping, ethics, publishing, and administrative requirements
When an article is published, certain information becomes part of the public scholarly record. This may include author names, institutional affiliations, ORCID identifiers, corresponding-author information where applicable, article title, abstract, keywords, funding information, author-contribution information, DOI, citation information, and other bibliographic metadata.
Published metadata may be disseminated to DOI registration agencies, indexing and discovery services, scholarly databases, libraries, repositories, citation services, and other systems that support research communication, accessibility, and long-term discoverability.
Information may be processed by authorized journal staff, editors, reviewers, technical administrators, hosting providers, publishing-service providers, persistent-identifier infrastructures, or scholarly services where such processing is reasonably necessary for journal operation, peer review, publication, metadata distribution, security, or preservation.
Access should be limited to information reasonably necessary for the relevant function.
ABIM uses a double-anonymous peer-review model. The journal protects the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, review reports, reviewer identities, editorial correspondence, author responses, supplementary files, and other non-public information generated during editorial processing.
Editors and reviewers must not use confidential manuscript information for personal advantage or disclose it to unauthorized individuals. Confidential manuscript content must also be handled in accordance with ABIM policies concerning Generative AI and external automated tools.
The journal platform and hosting infrastructure may process technical information reasonably necessary for website operation, authentication, security, troubleshooting, traffic analysis, and protection against misuse. Such information may include technical identifiers, browser or device information, access times, and system or server logs.
Personal and editorial information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for journal operation, editorial administration, recordkeeping, research-integrity purposes, security, and maintenance of the scholarly record.
Information connected with published articles, editorial decisions, peer-review records, corrections, retractions, or other integrity matters may need to be retained for an extended period to preserve the reliability and traceability of the scholarly record.
ABIM and its publisher seek to apply reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect journal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or misuse. However, no online information system can guarantee absolute security.
Users may contact ABIM regarding inaccurate personal information, account information, or other reasonable privacy-related concerns. Requests will be considered in light of journal operations, applicable responsibilities, and the need to preserve an accurate scholarly and editorial record.
Information that forms part of the published scholarly record may be addressed through an appropriate correction or editorial mechanism rather than deletion where removal would compromise publication integrity, citation history, or traceability.
This Privacy Statement may be updated when journal workflows, technical infrastructure, publishing services, or relevant data-handling practices change. The version displayed on the official ABIM website represents the journal's current privacy information.
